Commercial Pilot’s Licence

If you love flying, then why not turn your passion into a career by becoming a Commercial Pilot? Aviation is one of the most rewarding careers available and there is no better time than now to complete your Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).

  • Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL)
  • Minimum hours: 200
  • Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Minimum age to hold licence: 18 years

What are the steps in achieving my Commercial Pilot’s Licence?

Flight Training:

Having completed your PPL, it’s time to undertake further navigational training with instruction focused on commercial decision making in real-world scenarios. You will need to attain 100 hours of flight time as pilot in command, of which 20 hours must be cross-country. This solo time is an opportunity to consolidate your training and build the confidence and capability required to safely and professionally operate an aeroplane.

Theory Exams:

You will need to complete seven (7) separate theory exams before you can sit your CPL Flight Test. These include:

  • CPL Aircraft General Knowledge (CSYA)
  • CPL Aerodynamics (CADA)
  • CPL Operations, Performance and Flight Planning (CFPA)
  • CPL Air Law (CLWA)
  • CPL Human Factors (CHUF)
  • CPL Navigation (CNAV)
  • CPL Meteorology (CMET)

You can self-study for these exams, or we run CPL theory courses and offer one-on-one tuition.

Career Opportunities for CPL holders:

Holding your CPL means you can be paid to fly and opens the door to a diverse list of career pathways. Opportunities include:

  • Charter Pilot
  • Flight Instructor
  • Agricultural Pilot
  • Aeromedical Pilot
  • Airline Pilot

And that’s not even a complete list! These career options may require further training, however the CPL is the starting point for all.

In Summary:

  • Exciting career opportunities
  • Advanced training in real-world scenarios requiring commercial decision making
  • Group or one-on-one theory tuition available
